The marble stone mosaics can be installed on backsplash walls and floors in the bathroom, kitchen, and other living areas of interior decorations in both residential and commercial projects. Many tiling companies undertake stone mosaic tiling services and do perfect jobs. This paper is describing the installation procedures of the Waterjet Stone Mosaic. Like ordinary stone mosaic tiles, the following steps are also available for most types of mosaic products such as ceramic mosaics, glass mosaics, and metal mosaics.
1. Material preparations.
Preparing the professional stone mortar, grout, protective sealer, brush, vacuum cleaner, knife, sponge, flexible horizontal tool, and other cleaning tools before the waterjet mosaic tiling works.
2. Grassroots treatment.
In order to ensure the flatness of the tile, the depth of the basement needs to keep 12-13mm against the face. The thickness of the stone mosaic is 10mm, and the thickness of the mortar is 2-3mm. Clean the grassroots with cleaning tools such as a broom.
3. Laying and installing.
Cover the grassroots with mortar before putting the tiles on it. When laying and installing the waterjet marble mosaic tiles, it needs to make sure the finished surface is flat and every mosaic stone tile is boned firmly. If you find flat surface, it is available to slap the surface tightly with a flexible horizontal tool that is wrapped in a flannel or sponge.
4. Surface cleaning.
Clean the stone mosaic tiles' surface and the joints with a vacuum cleaner, it is suggested to wait until the surface heat is normal and the entire surface is dry before doing the next step.
5. Filling the gaps and surfaces.
Apply the grout to fill in the gaps and joints between the tiles and mosaic particles, and wait until the gaps is absolutely dry before doing the next steps. Second-time grout is available to enhance the work.
6. Applying the protective sealer.
It is necessary to apply the professional stone protective sealer to prevent staining, and water, and even protect the stone surface. If possible, apply two times to enhance the protection, because some stone materials of the mosaic tiles have an absorption more or less to the sealer, such as travertine or limestone, it is better to apply for second time. Of course, it needs some interval time between two works.
7. Maintenance.
It is suggestive to keep ventilated and wait for 24 hours about the marble mosaic tiling to dry after installation. You can clean the surface regularly with medium PH cleaners and a soft sponge or rag to clean the stone mosaic backsplash wall.
